Race Directors Report, March 2012 Despite all the forecasts for terrible weather, it turned out to be a great day for running. All told, the 2012 Shamrock Run tallied just under 500 participants. Congratulations to everyone for a great effort, and especially to our overall winners, Michael Mebel @ 19:02 and Anna McBride @ 19:02 in the 5K and Paul Sherman @ 37:25 and Viviana Dina @ 40:35 in the 10K. 2012 was indeed a very special year for the Shamrock Run. In remembrance of Coach Daric Beiter, the beloved Track Coach from Davie County High School, St. Francis was proud to introduce the 1st Annual Daric Beiter Memorial Cup. Each year the names of the top male and female 5 K finisher from Davie High School will be engraved on the cup. It was only fitting that this year’s winners were the overall winner’s of the 5K Run, Michael Mebel and Anna McBride. Congratulations to both Michael and Anna. Special recognition goes out to the Hiller Insurance Agency and Nationwide Insurance who sponsored the purchase of the Daric Beiter Memorial Cup. Thank you Matt Hiller for your support of the Shamrock Run. I would also like to recognize Davie Hospital who registered sixteen employees in our Corporate Challenge. Congratulations to everyone who participated and looking forward to seeing you all next year. Just after the awards ceremony, I was honored to present a check in the amount of $1,000 to The Advocacy Center of Davie County, our designated charity for 2012. The Advocacy Center is a wonderful and caring organization that supports the Davie County Community in time of need. It was indeed a pleasure working with Sylvia Steel this year. Our sincere appreciation and gratitude is extended to all our sponsors in the business community.  Without your leadership and commitment to community, the Shamrock Run would not be possible. I would like to especially thank Carolyn McManamy and the Davie County Chamber of Commerce for all your support and guidance. Last, but not least, I wish to thank all our volunteers and support staff that help make this event a tremendous success, not only for St. Francis, but all of Davie County. The Shamrock Run and Walk 5k & 10K courses are both USATF Certified through the heart of historic and scenic downtown Mocksville! 2011 was another RECORD SETTING turnout for the Shamrock Run!  In anticipation for yet another banner year, we are going with the more advanced chip system through "Lee Timing" for better accuracy and logging of runners crossing the finish line and for quicker results FOR YOU! A big THANK YOU to all who participated, sponsored and volunteered last year!  With your help, we were able to reach our goal to support Hospice & Palliative Care of Davie County in the amount of $1,000!!! REGISTRATION - Registration can be done one of three ways:      ONLINE: Register at www.active.com. On-line registration closes February 29, 2012.      MAIL: Register by mail by completing the above registration form and mailing with your check made out to: St. Francis of Assisi Church 862 Yadkinville Road Mocksville, NC 27028      IN PERSON: Day Before or Day of Race! FEES - With the new chip system this year and to be sure we accommodate all race participants, we highly encourage everyone to REGISTER EARLY! Pre-Register by March 2, 2012 - $25 Register the Day of the Race - $30 Girls-On-The-Run Participants - $10 Tots Trot - $5 All fees include Official Race T-shirt, day before pizza and refreshments, and post race party, food and refreshments.  Race medals are awarded to top three M/F finishers in all race categories. DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE / CHURCH

From the West  (Statesville, Asheville, Albuquerque): Take Interstate 40 East Take exit 170 toward Mocksville Turn right off the exit onto US-601/Yadkinville Rd for 1.3 miles Turn left onto Yadkinville Rd (a Walgreens will be on your left) The church is on your right next to SunTrust Bank.

From the East (Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh, Wilmington) Take Interstate 40 West (recommending BLUE I-40 around Winston-Salem) Take exit 170 toward Mocksville. Turn left off of exit onto US-601 / Yadkinville Rd for 1.3 miles Turn left onto Yadkinville Rd (a Walgreens will be on your left) The church is on your right next to SunTrust Bank.

From the North (Yadkinville, Mt. Airy) Take US-601 South.  In Mocksville proper, US-601 is Yadkinville Rd Pass Walmart and cross over I-40. Follow Yadkinville Rd for 1.3 miles and turn Left at Walgreens onto Yadkinville road (still) The church is on your right next to SunTrust Bank.

From the South (Charlotte, Columbia-SC) Take Interstate 77 North to Exit 51A, Interstate 40 East Follow Interstate 40 East to exit 170 toward Mocksville Turn right off the exit onto US-601/Yadkinville Rd for 1.3 miles Turn left onto Yadkinville Rd (a Walgreens will be on your left) The church is on your right next to SunTrust Bank.
